I have pulled another round of pots out of the kiln, and I’m getting a better understanding of the unexpected nature of ceramics. While I’m very happy with the results, expectation and reality have no idea what the other a up to. The seams where the slabs meet are getting much more even and clean with practice, which is making for less warping of the walls in the heat of the kiln. They all still have a little wobble on their feet, and Im curious if other potters have any tricks for keeping the feet flush through drying and firing? Here are some pics of the results.543ACA42-6E1B-49E9-B496-A8782749E1A7.jpegEBC3DB32-74B9-42D8-95AE-0674E0AF139D.jpeg84A8978B-9DB9-4936-ACFA-D65F8CE41C89.jpegD7D94F40-32D7-4A9C-94D9-6442132BC4C4.jpeg1A9AC567-ACA6-401D-ACFA-BCBAC64EF1DD.jpeg1ABACFA8-43DF-4388-873B-E1183CC12CD6.jpeg1FFA2F41-BDAD-473F-AEC4-E33CB2CEAE40.jpegF05DF379-4605-40D1-B650-809DC656DDE4.jpegB0A883A0-24B4-47F0-BE4B-F4C56D6EB670.jpegF3763D15-0504-4136-AD91-AF04D0D57581.jpeg

One more that didn’t fit in the first post…

Also wondering whether there would be interest in free form pots I’ve been making. I have been building these with the plan of selling them as a unique pot for house plants, but the aesthetic is very much from free form crescent pots, so if you all like the shape and feel I can easily make some with feet and tie down holes.

Where do I insert cash in this thing! Omg I love these! Put me on the list for one of everything please. Seriously tho. Message me if you are interested in selling. I’d love to have #1&9 and the free form on the left.

Very nice.
Im getting Very envious of the great work of potters on the site!
May I ask what kind of setup (wheel/kiln) your working with?

These are great, I like the subtle style. How large are they?
Most are about 8-9”x 6-7”. The smaller ones are about 6x4”. Im trying to get comfortable working with larger pots as I love being able to collect small pots I don’t have much practical use for them.

Im slab building all of them, so there’s no wheel involved. I use a rolling pin to roll out slabs of even thickness, then cut out slabs for the bottom and sides, join the pieces, and use hand tools to shape the walls. Im quite new to ceramics so I don’t have a kiln yet. I’ve been firing with another local ceramicist who rents out space in her large kiln, but it’s becoming clear that I’m going to need to take that plunge soon.

You are doing an awesome job! Definitely quality workmanship. I’d be honored to have a couple when you are ready to part with them

Love them!

Dibs on #4 and freeform on the right 😁
Hey there Huggz, thanks for your interest in the pots I’ve been making. I love how that 4th pot came out, but there is one spot in the seam of the wall and bottom that separates slightly. I don’t think it’s going to effect the functionality but I can’t say for sure so I’m reluctant to ask for money for it at this point as I can’t guarantee it’s cold safe. I’ll definitely be using that glaze again in the future though!

These are all very nice.
I’m starting to think there is no need to look anywhere other than the nuthouse for pots.
I have a few Sorce pots, a structure and a pot from horseloverfat, and am already seriously considering some other ‘nut pots.
I’m going to need to get another job,lol

So are you just a tease?
Everything that came out solid is for sale and will go on the auctions if they don’t sell here. So far everything except #9 is available. Just shoot me a message if you are interested in anything : )
