Over Christmas I worked on it while fully frozen. Got myself a hammer, hammered a chopstick into the rootball. Pulled it out, falling over backwards. And after picking myself up, putting on 2 strands of 5 (6?) mm alu wire and doing some bends.
Today I finalized wiring, but pics to come once it is clear I did not kill many branches.

Yes I think this is a picea glauca "conica". We just call them Witte Spar (White Spruce) or Canadese spar (Canadian spruce).
Good reason for scientific names.

Wow, I don't think I've ever seen an attempt at a Dwarf Alberta Spruce cascade! Excited to see how this turns out.

I would like to know if bending and holding a trunk on Alberta Spruce is difficult compared to bending and holding their branches.
After reading plenty of literature, watching tutorials online, and conversing with BonsaiNut members on their experience with DAS, it seems keeping wire on branches until they “bite-in” decently is the optimal path to ensuring branches will hold their shape (possibly not requiring prolonged guy wire year after year in this case?).
Is the same difficulty applicable to trunk bending? Or is a major trunk bend “easier” to hold? Would you, then, recommend applying raffia to branches as well since heavy biting seems necessary for holding shape (and considering the few years’ time for contests)?

I fully expect this to b every dificult to keep in shape, and expect to rewire the minute I unwire the main trunk for the full duration of this christmastree challenge.
Small branches on individuals that I made last year were able to push .5mm copper wire upwards during the season..

Well.. I do not see any dying on the branches, and fully expect this to start growing on all branches..
