Looking for a bit of advice on this Lilac. The last picture is my inspiration and looking for a somewhat similar outcome. The present top two apexes should I wire horizontally or chop one and work on horizontal back budding from the remaining apex?

Cant offer you any styling advice but thought you might want to know next year flowering buds are predetermined during this year spring growth. Something you have to consider in your pruning process.

Well, I may have already destroyed any hope for flowers next year. But that’s okay, more worried about getting the styling going on the right track.

For (semi) cascades it helps if you tilt the pot, so that the cascading branch gets stronger. Wiring and.or pruning. I think you need a sequence of both actions to get a convincing tapered cascade
