This tree, like the others, was collected two years ago and allowed to freely grow. I will be pruning hard and repotting in the coming weeks and styling as an informal upright.

Update: Next year I will carve the wound out more, and hopefully have thickening on that lowest branch. I'll chop the leader back, just hoping to get some girth this year.

Is that Luquidambar though? The leaves don't look right. Should have 5 distinct, roughly equal length lobes. Unless theyre's another species in the genus? I only know styraciflua.

It is, although the immature leaves don’t look like the mature ones that much
