Well the squirrels were back for round 2 last night, and they really did a whopper.

Figured out why though. Squirrels were trying to build a nest in a sheltered corner under one of my benches. Ordering animal repellent spray now

All (I’m pretty sure) rodents have teeth that constantly grow and they have to chew.
I leave an elk skull in my backyard near my trees, so far the squirrels have been happy to chew that instead… l have just moved to a house that l perceive as more squirrely, so I’ll see if my theory holds up.

A funny issue for me, is that a squirrel typically will knock a crappy nursery stock tree off my bench repeatedly over the course of the growing season… perhaps l should take its advice.
