Ive read somewhere to not style japanese maple in a literati style.

I know that pines look good like this and occasionally other trees, and realize deciduous trees look slightly more un pleasing in this form than others. could this be the reason?

is this real or something different? I dont remember where I read it

why would it be against the rules? is there a reason? is there a story behind this?

searching google, I only found like 2 JM pics in literati form... so its not very common.

just wondering why.
