Find a cylinder to stick in there to block off the underwall.

Or glob some caulk in there....

The pot is wide enough. Normally even when you have to slice the roots it might not be a problem. Just make sure if you have one or two big important roots that they are not against the wall so you won't slice them off when repotting. Don't make a big cutting.
