I started this little guy from a cutting. It was new growth when I started it so maybe 1/16” and now. Year later after much torture I feel it’s a good enough thickness to make a convincing mame. It’s still has ways to go but it’s a good start I think. First cut was me exploring taper but I learned at that size it makes no difference. Lol then it’s todays before and after. I’ll cut the main trunk lower once it grows lower. I was thinking of maybe even cutting it off but since I’m not sure it will stay for now.

Second tree is this little cascade, a cutting from the same mother tree. I was thinking of leave the other trunk to thicken up the bar but when I put it in the pot decided against it. Most those roots are gone but it’s responding well to the repot. Roots are already growing out of the bottom and new buds are popping up all over, might even get a new sacrifice branch. Akadama holds water surprisingly well in a tiny pot with a little moss over it. I’ve since cut the moss into smaller pieces so it’s flat now, not so much like a little hill.

I put the cuttings from today in dirt too, even tried a tiny raft. Let’s see if they take, I never do anything but put them in this big pot and I have a pretty high success rate though I might have just jinxed it. Lol
