I woukd like it to remain small. Maybe use a sacrifice branch to grow the trunk some. I beleive it might be partly root that was gradually denuded of soil. It was grown in a crowded way in a pot with lots of other chaenomeles seedlings from Mom’s jam making seeds. So maybe got these twists from being crowded. If it is bared root, will it never thicken? And if it won’t thicken I guess I can just hope for developing some leafiness and ramification. MAYbe some flowers in a few years?

That would be great! I think maybe I should let a couple branches grow long to flower? Maybe if I design the branches very crookedly it would look ok

That would work. Wire the branch with an extra long wire as it grows. Once the branches start to lignify it will be a bit difficult to wire without snapping the branches.
