Lonicera ligustrina var. yunnanensis (Syn. Lonicera nitida).

These are commonly used for low hedges here in France. In august 2008, I removed some from a hedge my sister wanted to get rid of:

I kept some and gave or sold the rest for a couple of €uros.

Here is one of mine:

How small is it?

Nice!

Very low key on the profile....

That transformation is stunning! Hope I can do as well with some lonicera I have dug up. Thanks for sharing.

I repotted it in August, the roots were filling the pot so it was beginning to drop leaves. It's fully recovered now. The stone is the size of an egg :

Absolutely wonderful!

This makes me HATE my Loniceras!

The North American species do NOT have foliage or internodes like THAT...

I like "naturalistic" trees, but I also cheat : a Lonicera nitida will never look like a Libanese cedar, but under the snow, we haven't much here, it looks not like a shrub in a hedge, or a topiary, but like a "tree". This is one of those I'd like to keep before I kick the bucket 😄
