This is a collection of Mugo Pines I have worked on over the last couple of years when I had time to do so. Between dealing with the death of my Mother and my Wife's mother I just realized that over the last two years very little time has been spent with my trees other than to do drastic and fun stuff like what follows in this video. Most of these trees will probably be sold by the middle of the summer.

Interesting vid

Are you selling them to cut back on stuff because of the other things in life that are taking you away from bonsai?

I am selling them because I enjoy turning other people on to Mugo Pines. Though my wife would like me to cut back I am always looking for another path to accomplish a good bonsai. This particular video is not so much the standard impression of the kind of material one would expect to obtain for bonsai. It is however typical of the way Mugos tend to grow in nature.

The problem is that most people that get their hands on this tree tend to look for the traditional styles they are used to seeing in the books, and publications. Problem; unless you take a good deal of time searching material, the likelihood of finding more or less traditional material is not too good. It therefore becomes necessary to think outside the box, and think outside the box stylistically to come up with designs. Perhaps this is the major reason so many people have trouble with this tree-----it doesn't fit the mold.

The problem manifests itself more in a form of denial where normally very gifted bonsai artists shun this tree by claiming it cannot be grown where they live instead of understanding there is a fundamental reason of their own creation that keeps the tree from them.

Well Vance one thing for certain, you are no Martin Scorsese ! :p I enjoyed the video though.

Give me time I might turn into Ed Wood with Plan 9 from outer space. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid.
