Didn’t take a picture of it when it was untouched and in it’s original nursery can. Here it is in a group photo in a wooden planter. I’d already trimmed some branches by this point (2018):

Finished giving it a haircut. In the process, discovered there was still some wire on the tree I had neglected to remove. If I’d left it on any longer, it would’ve been too late to remove it. It would’ve become a permanent part of the tree.

Gave it an emergency repot today. I went to pick it up and the wood planter just fell apart. The steel bands holding it together had corroded to the point where they just broke apart. I was planning on repotting it this year anyway. Turned out to be a good thing I repotted it. This was one of the first nursery trees that I potted up a few years back to grow out. There was still quite a lot of original nursery soil near the trunk. Did a HBR job on it and put it in a pond basket In akadama/pumice/lava. Will try to get rid of the rest of the original nursery soil next time it’s repotted.

Not a happy looking bush. Wonder what'll become of it😜.

It’s still early spring here. Junipers are still dormant and bronzed. That said, I do think there is one section that has some parts that are dead. The majority, though, I fully expect to be just fine.

Update: I haven’t done any work on it yet this year. Planning to do a bit of wiring soon to move something over to fill the gap left by the branch that died.

Nice diving catch!

Now, I think you have nice possibilities within the (approximate) width of the pond basket. juniper.jpg

It looked like a goner in April (post #5).

As in a diving catch in the end-zone of the last second of the game!

You saved it! = nice catch!
Oh, its looks were quite deceiving. I was never really concerned about it, health-wise. That big brown region was there because I’d snapped that branch when removing the wires I’d put on the previous fall (or maybe it was when I originally wired it - I don’t recall exactly when I broke the branch, just that getting my big meat hooks in there to mess with the wire was the cause). The branch was still attached, so I put some cut paste on it and wrapped the location where it snapped with grafting tape to see if it would survive (nope!). You can see the grafting tape wrap in the photo.
