I have read and re-read every article on Brent's site. A three of the many that interested me were:

Bareroot seedlings

Root Pruning Bare Root Seedlings

Crabapples for Bonsai

So I am doing my best to follow the teachings that he has so generously provided. While this these little guys are nothing exciting, I did enjoy the propagation from the tap root of the bare root liner.

On that note, what I did after following the root pruning article is plant the tap root that I cut off. Photo 1 is the the Crab liner and photo 2 is that root cutting. If you don't do root cuttings I would recommend trying it due to the funky shaped trunks you get.

It will be interesting to check out the growth at the end of the season. Keep us posted. (I planted some root cuttings from quince but they aren't as far along as yours.)

*sigh* the root cutting was a casualty of a few really hot days. I lost some that I was excited about and this is one...:(

However the bareroots that I got are doing very well and have about doubled in caliper.
