Sorry...if you didn't enter them...but honestly just developing material into something more...anyone who does that is a winner. I love my material...and after a much needed haircut of long limp vines...I am pleased with its alien looking self. So...I already am a winner in my book...no matter outcome of contest.
What species are you using?

Hehehe thanks for that. May just post anyway even though I am not in the comp.....may inspire others
I'm sure yours will inspire others. We all sort of started out with pretty raw material. Yours are much more well developed. Very nice, I love the little ones.

It takes about 4 to five years to develop a really nice tree....more if the tree has stress.

But actual rules...just state pot size. A mame training pot...is still a mame size pot.

Do we have a final verdict?

I have the final pot for one of my trees but if I can I'll take another year to step down to the final size. The final pot is about 2 1/2" across on the inside. The extra space would help with development.

As long as the pot is no bigger then 4.5 inch on the longest side its good.
It doesnt matter if it isnt the final pot yet i think these little trees need to be repotted every year anyway.

There will be a opened update thread for the end of contest part two on 20-11-2018 to show the mames in their pots and again vote by likes to get a winner out of part two

My Chinese elm started pushing buds, so I repotted it and cut back the branches a little last night. It will still need a major cut-back, and I want to wire the trunks again to add more movement and hold them close together to help fuse. Since I reduced the roots so much, would it be a bad idea to cut-back and/or wire now as well? Or should I wait until later this year? If I could only do one, I think I would want to wire now and let the tree gain some strength and girth to help fuse trunks and prepare for a cut-back. Any suggestions?

The green line is about 6 inches from the pot lip (maximum height for mame) and the red line is where I would likely chop back to.
