I almost killed both of these when I went to Florida for a week in November and came home just before Christmas. LOL my daughter was watering occasionally but with 4 grandkids... I took them both back to Florida in February for a month so they wouldn't feel neglected.
I'll post the before and after repotting from this week. I put some wire on the WL ficus but the serissa is struggling to recover so... Put them both in pure pumice.
The ficus went into a @sorce pot ment for the creapy Virginia creaper that I killed...
Nothing spectacular to report here... LOL going to cut the growing tips back on the ficus in a week or two to hopefully get some back buds.

I like the serissa, Mark. I hope it recovers. Are you going to shorten that lowest branch?

My willow leaf ficus isn't looking great. I cut it back hoping it would back bud further back on the branches but it never did. I'm going to cut it back more aggressively this summer.

I'm not cutting anything on the serissa for a while. Had very few roots. Not as worried about contest as the silly little tree. It's parent is in the same boat.

Looks like @defra hasn't been around for about a month or so. Not sure if we will finish this contest or not. Here are updates of my 2 crape myrtles.

The branch ends died on this one over the winter, which turned out to be good as it forced the growth in and made a more compact tree. Looking pretty decent.

And this one decided to sleep in and didn't bud out until late June. But its alive.

@defra you wrote>>> since most contestants entered multiple tree's pick your favorite entry and post the entry picture and a final quality picture of the result here.

Only one tree gets entered? Mine both suck and are lucky to be alive but I can't decide which sucks less.
I'll tweak on them this weekend and get some pics posted soon. I got nuthin for @VAFisher though.IMG_20201113_165735353.jpgIMG_20201113_172923639_PORTRAIT.jpg LOL

This was a fun challenge. These little trees develop fast but require vigilance with watering and winter care. Both of mine had a rough winter last year but luckily survived. It was a good learning experience and I got a couple decent little trees out this contest that will hopefully improve over time. Was also hard to pick one but decided on the one in the blue pot.

Since only one of my losers get entered, I've been letting this one run wild after a root prune.
