Can you do an airlayer on a newly potted tree that has just been lifted from the ground in the same spring?

You can if you're careful and depending on the size & location of the layer...but I wouldn't suggest risking anything you're really attached to. What's the hurry?

Are you planning ahead to next spring or thinking of doing it now? I would say that generally if the tree is vigorous and healthy then yes you can. Vigorous is the key. No cutting of anything above the layer.

What type of tree?
