I need help with design? I have to prune before spring . what would you do . ? . It is a acer palmatum. I am from argentina.

It looks like you can chop it down to 1 inch stubs or so all around. The sub trunks.

I know there is a time difference but not an entire season :) (did i just say something stupid? edit: i just looked it up and yeah im stupid)

I agree with MACH. Cut the large braches short to his virt and start building the secondary branching

Yeah, i didn't pay attention in kindergarden i think. I really thought the earth orbit around the sun was waay off and the reason for seasons.

Make certain that you leave at least one node when you cut. Otherwise you won't get any back budding on your branches since maples will not pop buds between the nodes.

i really like MACH5 drawing.
I was having the same idea, it could be a really great tree like that, the trunk and nebari are already really nice! :)
