Doubt if it just snapped without some outside help maybe a dog, possum, raccoon etc. That bites sorry to see that.

If you can keep it in a high humidity environment it should root.

That is horrible! I repotted mine about a month ago into an Anderson flat and have it propped up with a board. I never thought that a cypress could just snap like that. No dogs in your backyard? Big birds?
It might be due to a little dog from the neighbor or opossum!

I'm with Bob. Treat it like a juniper cutting and see if it will root. Don't just throw it out without trying...

Mine is growing very strongly... in fact much more strongly than any of my junipers. I repotted it into a good pumice mix in an Anderson flat back in December and it did not seem to be negatively impacted.

I have not talked to Ian in a couple of months. Yo @ianb how is your pygmy cypress?

Excellent! I might get another one in the next convention here :)
Looks like Ian is very busy at this time.

@bonhe

What it looked like when I bought it from the GSBF show in late Oct:

What it looks like today, more or less six months later. I repotted in December. You can see roots coming out of the bottom of the Anderson flat:
