So who is going?

http://www.midatlanticbonsai.org/index_htm_files/MABS final registration_form.pdf

I'm hoping to pop in for an hour or two to see the display and of course the sales area as I'll be travelling right past it on Saturday.

I went for the first time last year for a bit and it was nice to see formal displays and a whole lot of quality bonsai material for sale.

I will be there. I am going to try and not buy a tree this year. However, no promises on pots.

[I am going too , I am part of the Board running it. We should make an effort to meet each other. Put a little BNut on your
name tags. I am with the club from Springfield.

Unfortunately I don't think I will make it there this year. If by chance I do, it will be Saturday am.

I too plan to be there Saturday am. This is my first bonsai show ever so I'm going to be greener than the trees but I'm excited.
I'm no member if any club or group but for now I'm just learning about it all.

So? How was MABS? I couldn't make it but would appreciate comments and maybe some pics from those that did.

Will I was there but only for a couple of hours on Saturday morning. Sorry no pics from me since I didn't bring my camera. Hopefully others will. In my opinion the exhibit was overall good. It was a bit of a mix bag. Some highly accomplished trees alongside some that were perhaps not as refined or developed. Still was great to see and study them. I walked the exhibit with Nybonsai12 who I met for the first time. We had a great time discussing the trees on display.

Unfortunately I was not able to stick around for the demos.

I was only there for a bit too on Saturday morning as it was a stop for my wife and I on a trip continuing to PA. I only had my phone and didn't bother to take pics. I think the trees were of better quality than last year, but considering I didn't know as much last year as I do now, take that opinion with a grain of salt. There were a few that I thought were very refined, a shimpaku, a giant yew, a hornbeam(if i remember correctly) with a uro you could stick your arm through and a nice redwood that had great dead features. I'm sure there were others that i am not remembering at the moment. I have a friend who took some photos, i'll see if I can get them to share here.

As he stated above, I got to meet Mach5 who is a great guy and for someone like me it was good to walk the exhibit with him and hear an experienced take on the trees. I think he'd agree with me that the exhibity could have used more J. Maples!!

Great festival this year. The artists were fantastic, accessible, friendly, and good at teaching bonsai.
The vendors area was packed to the gills. Bill had some nice goodies, I got some seedlings from him. A Sara Raynor pot from Pauline Muths booth, assorted tools, and left assorted drools, as there were pots, trees, and stands that really wanted to go home with me. I had to go there funded like I do when I go to the casino. Besides I had to save money for raffles.
That's the next part, raffles. Seems I kind of had the Midas touch, see photos below. The first is with Budi Sulistyo, and his demo juniper, that I won. At number two is me and Peter Tea, along with the demo juniper he worked on, oh by the way, yes I won this one too. No I didn't buy hundreds in tickets, 20 here a twenty there. In 6 raffles I probably spent $140 most would flip a twenty for raffles.
A lucky weekend for me for sure, I also won a small Dimming pot, in a silent auction. A club member also won a Japanese maple worked on in a teaching demo, by Peter Tea.
I will also post a couple others of Mauro Stembergs Spruce, which kept the tickets sellers busy, you will see why, Peter Tea, and Budi.
Lots of faces and good fun had by all from what I saw and heard, only incident being the hotel had a very small very green wait staff for the banquet.
Glad I have Patriots day off.
Have some photo work to do to get them posted, get them up ASAP.

I got there for a little on Saturday and the club president showed me the trees on display. I'm really new at this so I thought the trees over all looked nice. I didn't see the vendor area and that's just as well. I'm sure I would have dropped a lot more then I needed at this point. I didn't get a chance to stick around as much as I wanted because I had to take my son out. I'm thinking I should join the group as I can learn a lot from them and it would be fun to spend time with others of like interest.
Can you tell me where the vendor area was because all I found was the room with the trees. Not sure how I missed it. I guess I was to focused on seeing the trees and then getting out of there (it was busy at the garden center).

I had a great time. I bought a few pots, some soil, some SS tools to upgrade the ones I have and a few small trees.

I got before and after pics of all the Friday and Saturday demo trees and I got pics of many (around 30 or so) of the exhibit trees (the better ones IMO). Will take me some time to get them postable but will get it done ASAP.

Myself and Steve had "BNUT" written on our name tags but sadly didnt meet up with anyone else. Steve said he thought he saw NY on the other side of the vendor room with him but didnt get a chance to talk to him.

Already planning to go next year.

@DhD47

The Vendor area was off the hallway behind the hotel registration desk. If you were headed toward the demo room, you turned right down a hallway to get to that hallway. You should have asked at the MABS desk, there was always someone there an they would have directed you to the vendors.
