Is this place still around? Anyone visit recently?

Mini Plant Kingdom

Last time I was there was probably 10 years ago. Had a great outdoor railroad :)

I ordered stuff from them on-line a few times....but I think I remember seeing a for sale add in a magazine for the entire nursery. Don't know what happened after that though...

The last time I saw Don in the 80's it was for sale then.

Don and Becky Herzog of the Kingdom are gone...

but...Ian and Janet Price at Lone Pine might help you out.

Al... by gone do you mean closed? Or GONE?

I liked them. They were quirky in the rural California kind of way, but they were nice people. What happened to their place?

I mean gone as in retired. As of last year there were a few close friends that could go to his home by appointment and still buy a few things he had left. I think most everything is gone now. gone....as in gone from the bonsai scene.

Before getting into bonsai I was buying from Don for the hobby shop I managed for LGB train scenry. Who knew!

Cheers, Al

Ian Price only does the Northern Cal conventions. If you come to Santa Clara next year you can check out Ian's stuff. Same stuff Don had only the prices are better.

Don and Mini Plant Kingdom are technically still around, though the business is for sale and over half of the stock has been sold off. He is open by appointment only, and will ship in large quantities. There are still lots of hokkaido elms, crab apples, wisteria, and many of the younger plants available for sale.

Ian and Janet of Lone Pine have much higher quality trees for the price, and are incredibly nice people, but they don't ship anything. I frequent both of these nurseries as I live only about 20 minutes from them... Hope the info helps! -=Brian=-

Yes I was truly surprised to see Don at Shohin last month. We talked for about two hours and he filled me in on some missing pieces of his life story for an article I am writing. Due out next issue of Golden Statements. I sent the whole shebang to Kathleen last night.
