Has anyone seen this book? It has some neat pictures of shohin and mame sized trees with displays. Can anyone figure out the year published from the text?

Have you tried Google Translate? It works decently well for me. Set up on phone etc, scan and read.

Good job!

You likely found out the screen translation doesn’t work as good as scanning for the translation.. Sometimes I end up scanning a couple times occasionally you can pick up a better translation tha5 way.

cheers

We need someone to source some books from old times in japan from japan . Hopefully in English. I've seen some books from japan but passed because I could not translate them. Maybe we need a bonsai translations for dummies. Lol I know I could use one. I guess it's time to learn japanese.
Hey Goose you got that number for the Japanese bonsai book. Top gun humor. Lol

FWIW, Chinese bonsai books are pretty common... This one isn't all that unusual...Used bookstores are your friends. And beware translations, meaning can is often veiled behind interpretation vs literal...Back in the day, someone interpreted Kimura as saying raffia needs to be soaked in ice water before it is applied. Turned out he meant cold water, but the ice water soaking for raffia became a "thing" for a while for some folks in the west.
