Mistaken tree ID

Can anyone help me ID this? It has small mauve, scented flowers and I thought it was a dwarf syringa but now Im not so sure!
It was grown from cuttings from an old shrub in a neighbors garden.

Any pictures of the flowers would really help.

Are the leaves in 3s at whorls? Kind of hard to be sure. Some look like opposite leaves, a few others like whorls.

Leaves are opposite- sorry no flower photos yet, I pruned it hard so probably removed the flower buds .
My neighbour is in England( West Midlands) , same as me LOL

It certainly looks as though it could be some type of lonicera (honeysuckle)
