Wanting a tough deciduous tree for southern CA, I picked up this black mulberry (morus nigra - everbearing).
The container with the reflective tape is the purchased plant I picked up a little more than a season ago. I rooted a cutting for a friend about half a pencil thickness. She through it in the ground for just about 5-6 months. She moved things around in her yard and I ended up getting the rooted cutting back. The size difference is amazing. All my feeding and caring for the reflective taped original container tree does not compare to simply putting this species in the ground. We new this, but it’s interesting to actually see the size difference.
