This oic is from day of..shows that one as it was already half exposed..wish i took oics of it before I cut it oit but that soil is relatively undisturbed around base of tree..they are mainly structural and seem pretty dead..there is fine feeder roots underneath tho...id say I yea maybe uncovered a lil more than it was.. U think too much? With winter coming n all

If maybe I got too carried away I could always just pull that moss up and throw soil around the base..prob got swept away in the mossing and forgot to keep in mind how the plant was

Now I'm def second guessing cuz the other pic ibhave has them totally covered BUT thats because when i out it in a temporary pot I covered all the roots with soil for storage sake...so this pic youd thinm the entire thing was subterranean...but really its hard to tell because that potting soil is all moist and stuck to it so it doesnt really represent when it was in its original home

At first I was actually going to make a big Mound around all those roots and have it be like a slope kind of like the picture suggests but as I was potting it I got a little Moss happy forcing the nebari issue.. either way I'm off to school now it should survive the night as I will be daydreaming in class if I should correct it

I personally prefer to keep all roots well-covered initially. When it has recovered from collecting, you can clean up nebari. But roots dying off because they are not covered is a shame.

Well since I'm not certain perhaps I'll pull that Moss and cover those roots till spring.. and it will make a nice Above the Rim Mound in the meantime
But I am still thinking I left them exposed from determining they were basically dead already because when I found this thing it was poking out the side of a little Hill that had a trail cut out of it it was barely even in the ground

But I will take your advice and take another look at it.. I literally work from early in the morning till 2 and then have to be at school from 3 to 9:30 so I'll have to somehow squeeze that in lol
