That is awesome. Do these bark up well? That would solve the problem of the bulges, which are not so bad.

Thanks. These don’t bark-up very much, unfortunately, except for a bit at the base. Not at all like a cork oak (q. suber), or a valley oak (q. lobata).

If I were doing it over again, I’d kerf only at existing nodes.
