Starting this as a place to show all my small sized conifer trees and track them. I got this thuja occidentalis primo a few days ago. I cleaned out all the dead foliage and scraped some soil away to try to see the root spread. The tree is very very bound in the pot so it’ll be a surprise this spring, but I do see some promising flair. There’s nothing to see yet really. What I love about the tree is that it already looks like a large tree in the distance. I just stare at it while I sit on my porch, I love this thing. I actually bought two, the second one I put in the the ground to grow out since it had movement and a dead spot in it. The second one definitely doesn’t look like a tree in the distance yet ha. The foliage helps create a lot of scale in this tree, It got me so excited I purchased a Jacqueline hillier elm and gemstone hinoki cypress off Etsy. Sight unseen, so I hope they aren’t awful. All trees ultimately came from iseli nursery so I have faith.
