Seedling
This is one of the first pots I made myself, and despite the simple shape and no fancy glaze I think I'm still the most proud of this one. I took a basic ancient Egyptian language course and learned just enough to formulate my own pot inscription, a kind of spell for good growth. It goes all the way around on all sides and reads: "Words as spoken by scribe Thomas: [...]" (this was a common introduction for spells or prayers) "[...] in this vessel, from sunlight, water, and death emerges plentiful, beautiful, and everlasting life."
White chamotte stoneware clay with some pigment added for the sandstone coloration.
I have an Albizia seedling I'm planning to plant in here when it outgrows its plastic pot, hopefully accompanied one day by a papyrus accent plant.
