I picked up the Parsonis cheap and decided to practice some deadwood techniques. It had a natural Shari and I created a jin. I plan. To eventually repot it ad a semi cascade 20181210_144631.jpg

I'm quite new at this but I worry about if that branch will survive. Is there still bark on the back? Aesthetically I think it's better if you can see bark connecting the branches.

Yes there is bark on the back to feed that branch. I like the look of the deadwood in front. I connected the Jin to an existing shari on the trunk.

I made my first virt!!! Then I realized this thread is like 8 months old. Well, I'll share it anyways. Keep in mind ive only been studying bonsai for a few months, but this is what I would do with that jin:

I guess you have to start somewhere and I realize this tree is FAR from finished, but it does look a bit contrived on such a young looking plant.
