while panning for gold I came across a huge body of clay, so i decided to take some home. I dissolved it in water, and Sen it through a 30 mesh screen. I allowed it to set for several hours and there was no line of silt so i figured it was decent clay.
I decide to make a small pot. it came out about how you'd expect for a first timer. due to my ignorance I allowed it to dry way too fast and it cracked. after looking it up, i should have allowed it to dry over a two week period. You live and you learn. I guess i should have made a few tiles and fired them to see how it looks/acts.

Well, it was a nice pot, especially if it was the first try.
Now that you know what mistake to avoid, make another pot, discover new mistakes to avoid in the future.
Step by step the pots will become nicer and more resistant. :)
Good luck!

Nicely done !!

you can powder some of the clay, try a flour sieve 40 mesh.
Have some one fire the powder to cone 04 or 06.
Add about 50 % to your clay.
Make a 5 mm thick little snake about say 10 cm long.

Test fpr plasticity, and if it wraps around your finger with
no cracks, then try to make your pot again.
The fired powder [ grog ] will allow the clay to dry evenly
and faster.
Try again.
