Here is a maple from Vallejo that originally came from Fuyo-en
That's the one i had in mind, but this (attached) is the only picture i had of it! It looks like it was under-displayed at the Trophy?
I love this tree. It really caught my eye as a tree that respected traditional japanese maple design, but added its own twist, like most of your maples do! I would love to know what it looked like in the hands of fuyo-en. Was it already allowed to 'droop', or is this totally vallejo's doing? either way, brilliant!
I believe this happened naturally. My maple #5 is doing a bit of the same
