Today I took some time and organized my trees a bit, I only have a little corner dedicated to my trees. I want to redo my tables, now that I have 2, I want them to match. I also think I could use that space more wisely to fit more trees, NEED MORE TREEEES! Anyway, here’s My corner, not much but I’m proud of it.

Almost a year later, some trees stayed some didn’t. Some died some added. Still not a great but getting better.

This stump is a large catalpa tree that blew over in a microburst we had 23 years ago. It is still alive and has become a natural raft. I have power washed the soil off the roots and filled in the hole left from its uprooting. There is a live vein on the other side which feeds the branches/trees. It’s very hard to photograph when the leaves are out as it becomes quite dark. This is from the back of the tree. A woodland garden is on the other side with ferns and hellebores.
It’s beautiful when it flowers as they are quite low and visible. Clusters of white orchid like flowers. 2E39DAE0-2776-4B88-9679-9C4095DB429F.jpegDA59D277-A39C-4AAE-82E8-E8EB8A3459F2.jpeg

Very nice! It's got a nice welcoming feeling. These photos at dusk remind me a bit of Thomas Kinkade.
Thanks, my wife and I are big Thomas Kinkade fans. There is a lady in Savannah that has a Thomas Kinkade gallery that we go to every time we are there. And we have one of his small prints.

Finally had the courage to do a major trunk-chop on these 2 garden eugenia, lol.

Didn’t like the previous ugly T-shape, ever since I styled them 2 or so years ago. The T-shape was really bugging me for years.

So, finally chopped them down, and making them into regular uprights, with much shorter side-branches and pads instead, more columnar.
(I have 2 other garden eugenias shaped like this... much more columnar)

Shorter too... so I don’t need to get on a ladder anymore to hedge/shape the clouds/pads. (I don’t mind slightly taller deciduous trees tho... since they are easier/different to prune, because you just clip long branches instead of shaping individual bushy pads).

My humble LITTLE spot. It is about 6m x 2.5m . That's my garden and my neighbors garden combined as they are hardly ever here so I look after it and get to use the space.20200402_113429.jpg20200402_113434.jpg20200402_113446.jpg20200402_230352.jpg

One clue: Bonsai Heresy

@Brian Van Fleet, I think the one you're thinking of is not this one. That one that Michael has featured on his blog is much older. This one is one that he has been developing for many years and it's quite beautiful but needs more age. This spring I slip potted it into an antique Chinese pot I got from Matt.

Eventually, I will start a thread on this chojubai.
