I have cut away the plastic water bottles from a few of my Neagari projects and cleaned out the soil to release some of the pressure inside bottles and give the roots a bit more room to grow… I tried to twist one or two around and put a bit of movement in but its not easy with long sacrifice branches… I’ll let them grow and have another go in a few years. What suggestions have you got for me if any??

I love the look of a well done exposed root pine, as well. My only words of advice would be to try to get more movement into the seedlings right at their base where it leaves the soil- I'll wire the seedling at 1 to 2 years of age with lots of curves starting right at the soil. Also, I would have exposed the roots slowly over a few years instead of all at once. Your pines look good, so keep going!

How long did you leave them in the original cylinder? I’ve got one of these going to but I don’t think it’s ready to start unwrapping yet...

Thanks @Dav4 Yeah I planted these straight into a bottle then wired them, I was more worried about getting the tree to clear the lip of the bottle... heres another one thats a bit better:

I have also tried laying them straight down and cutting the bottle away a bit:

When I repot them next I'll tray and put more movement in and spread out the roots that meet the soil to improve taper... its hard to do this when they have been growing in dead straight bottles... maybe in future I may try and narrow the top and widen the bottom of the bottles maybe?

Thanks for posting "Drew".

I also have one that I'm trying to train this way, but it's not as advanced as yours. I will post pictures later (maybe).
