Bought this little Apple from Danny Use last year in may.
Was still in some garden soil, and buds are opening so I decided to repot last friday.
Roots were completely tangled and going round in the pot.
Cut hard back and potted in a good drainable mix in the same pot.
Now a few days later buds are allmost completely open !

Good work. Besides cutting back, did you do any work on the nebari towards future development?

I've opened up the radial roots when putting the tree down on the pile of soil when planting, and then filling up with soil on top of them until pot was full.

Looks perfect🥰. Would suggest larger tree size for leaves.

Incredibly jealous, I have been lusting after a good apple tree for a shohin all year. I've had bad luck with local sourcing but I've got some seeds germinating that will hopefully yield something good.

Thanks all, and yes I did prune rather a lot, but next year it will be free to grow as happily as possible and I hope to have a lot more little apples :)

I second growing this into a larger tree to match the leaves and fruit

I'm not sure, I like it in shohin size, maybe in the future I'll put it in a grow box for some years but now I really like it as it is ☺️

Shohin apples are a thing, with big leaves and oversized apples. KEEP IT SHOHIN!
I’ve got some crabapple seedlings growing that I’ll also be wiring up to be funky little shohins 👍🏻

Succes with the seedlings 👍
