Buds were swelling on this one so it was time to see about a repot.
I purchased this one for 1$ at the bonsai auction last spring.

It gave a good show last fall.IMG_9912.jpeg
The roots are Definitely ready for some more room to grow. IMG_0662.jpegI had this nice pot on hand. IMG_0661.jpegIMG_0659.jpegIMG_0666.jpegSo I did my best to rake out that rootball. IMG_0665.jpegPotted up in a DE, Calcined clay, lava mix. IMG_0667.jpeg
Wired into the pot and ready to rock. IMG_0675.jpegIMG_0674.jpeg

I like this tree! The red is ridiculously vibrant. I have two small suggestions. First, I think it would be nice to wire the tip of the smaller trunk back towards the main trunk to echo it’s movement, adding harmony. I also feel that it might look better placed with the “short side” of the pot towards the big trunk, i.e. if it was potted on the other lateral third.

Thank you for your feedback!
Yeah I will definitely wire that smaller shoot in more.
I imagine this will fill this pot with roots in a year, (assuming it makes it) so I will definitely take the repotting advice into consideration.

This one got an impromptu repot this summer as I found it knocked over and pot was broken.

It didn’t do so hot this season. Growth was minimal, and colors not so vibrant.
Now I don’t think I will repot it this coming spring. IMG_2863.jpeg

Nice i have a euonumus alatus in the ground to develop trunk first.
Its a nice species but even in the ground slow development because it is just one flush of growth a year.
And i have a euonymus japinicus thats a evergreen variety wich i also get only one flush of growth on

Yeah, I may put it in the ground. Thanks for stating how slow they are to bulk up!

I put one in the ground at my last place.
It was definitely slow. Now, I remember that I killed it with too much fertilizer! Oops. 🤣

I had started a few of these in grow pots then I found one I had planted several years ago to create a hedge row. I had never seen one that reached almost 3 feet in the ground with just a single trunk! Much to my surprise, it also had significant surface roots, not just the fine fibrous roots that I am used to seeing. I potted it and styled in 6-7 months ago and it survived the summer! It's leaves are just beginning to turn. I am considering a shallow round pot as I can't seem to decide where the front is😁 first photo dated 4/17 so I guessed right! 6.5months ago1000001160.jpg
