Hello everyone! So I just purchased my first Ficus bonsai. It is a Ficus Nagai! I think it has a good shape but I need help on how I proceed with it? Should I let it continue growing wild and prune and/or defoliate in the spring? Also, if anyone has any experience with these please advise me on your experience. I am all ears. I'm here to learn and help this new bonsai of mine flourish. :)

Never heard of a ficus nagai, but it looks like a ficus microcarpa to me. It looks healthy. I would try to keep it healthy for now and not worry about styling. You can repot it into a decent substrate when it's warm out and the plant is putting on new growth. Then you can see what the base looks like and decide on a front then work on developing branching. Here is a decent description of ficus:

Thank you! I greatly appreciate your reply. I'm very happy it's a healthy tree and I will let it grow and repot it in the spring. :)
