My neighbor up here in NY has a few Quince bushes growing in his hedges. They have peach/pink colored flowers. So last year (2011) I took seeds from the fruit and let them freeze over the winter on my back porch. I planted them in the spring and had some pretty good luck. Would have had a few more if it wasn't for the squirrels doing what squirrels do...lol. I tried a few years ago by starting the seeds in the house over the winter with no luck. Here is what I ended up with. I put one in a pot by itself. Was the biggest one when I selected it.

great job bringing up the quince seedlings.I am suprised aphids did not stunt them from sprout time. They will definately grow faster than the dwarf 'chojubai'.I always found the speciosa hybrids very fast growing and I could not really control them. But,I have also seen some beautiful potted specimens of the kind you have. They did'nt nessesarily have huge trunks which take a long time to grow either.Great job.
