my effort

Even the text is more bold!

Nah....are we waiting for "afters"?

Good place if you did do something, it's going to live. Priority number 1 accomplished.

Pot it down!

Welcome Aboard Bonsai Nut!

Congratulations on your first effort!

The idea when doing your first styling is to have a solid 3D goal in mind that aligns with either a traditional style or wild, naturalist style. At this point the tree is not yet meeting these criteria, yet is working towards a cascade style. The upside is the tree has plenty of growth left and looks really healthy. Let it rest. Next time

If it were me:

I’d study as many trees, whatever the species, in this style. Then study the existing juniper branches and see how things will fit within this style, which foliage needs to stay and go.

Also please plan where the wires will route to give you maximum effectiveness. Plan on using larger gauge wire so it will hold.

Next spring repot into bonsai media and plan to fully style the tree next fall.

cheers

1. Reduce your internet to 23/7
2. Get a book
3. Look through the book
4. Ask here if there's something confusing.

I watch a lot of Peter’s videos on you tube and have been to his nursery several times this year he’s a very nice fellow indeed and stops to talk most times you see him.
My aim here is a cascade style i took quite a lot of foliage off this plant so I didn’t want to push my luck with it I will reduce it more over time there are two cascading branches on it and I wanted to leave the second to help bulk the trunk up a bit for as long as I can all things I understand help I think I can lose the branch on the right completely to but I wait for that until I am completely sure

Not sure whether I’ve done ok or not if nothing else it’s practice
Looks good. Wire out the pads so they are more flat. During spring you’ll get back buds and growth in the interior. I did not do this to some of mine I am starting to develop and now I have to cut back and start over because my pads got leggy just growing upright without interior growth.
