Was a good bonsai day today! Both of my collected stumps are showing signs of life :)

First is the funky beech:

And the other ( struggling with ID'ing this one.. yes collected without an id :( ) :

And while we are on stumps.. the one I picked up from a nursary is doing well.

@parhamr suspected it was a wild cherry prunus, and now it's leafed it's safe that's confirmed. Specially with the red blobs on the base of the leaves.

Beech may make a good raft one day, tilted over towards the right, then the bulge in the middle would be less of a fault. stump in middle looks like a prunus also or a birch.

That fault is what made me grab it :) Going for an evil / spooky look.
