Here are my trees. I have three ficus 1 from cutting and 2 store bought the largest one has been somewhat stagnant. I would like to top it and plant the two large branches as a cutting to propagate. I would like any advice I can get on what I can and should do next. They have been in the same pot for close to a year now. I like messing with them as much as possible, so if anyone has any large tasks such as, repotting, topping, propagating, nebari, it would be much appreciated.

Warmer conditions are better for pruning ficus and for starting cuttings. If you are growing indoors in good conditions any time should be OK.
Successful bonsai growers work with the trees natural growth cycles. 'Messing' with trees more often can be counterproductive. It is definitely possible to love a tree to death.
Letting those little trees grow can be difficult for beginners but will result in more impressive bonsai far sooner than constant trimming and pruning.

I went through that phase and have it under control now. I don’t wasn’t more cuttings. Could I take the two large branches off my biggest tree in the white pot? Basically top right where it forks? Also, it needs to be pruned and given a bigger pot. When doing the roots, should I cut the large root growing out of the rocks in the picture. It takes up space in the pot and I feel like the tree has stopped growing.

I want to prune that root. I want to make two cutting from the large branches. Is this a bad idea for either of those things mentioned.

Not sure if cuttings will root from such old looking wood, but then again I don't know anything about Ficus trees :p
