I collected seeds from 3 different tridents in my area during winter. After just shy of 60 days in the fridge I sowed them at the beginning of the month. I’ve haven’t had the success rate I’d hoped for, maybe due to the short stratification, but it’s still been fun checking on my seed trays and pots every morning. I’ve got another 100 or so seeds in a third tray that I only sowed a week ago. For this final tray I just scattered the seeds randomly and in clumps/groups, I’m hoping for some little groups to sprout together.

There’s a large trident growing in my estate that I only noticed a month or so ago, so last Friday I took a walk to go check the flower beds around it. I came away with 20 collected seedlings, 4 of them already a year old!

So here’s my haul so far for the season, some sown and some collected. In total I have 29 so far. I’ve planted 4 of the collected seedlings in one of my raised planters. The year old seedling is planted through a washer.

THere. You have done it. You have made your garden too small. Where will you put all of these?

But, joking aside. Well done, congrats!

Went for a walk today to the complex where I collected seeds previously. I saw loads of 1 and 2 year old seedlings amongst the plants around the tridents, so I asked the estate manager if I could collect some. He said sure, so I came home with 19 more seedlings!

The 6 biggest went into my parents back garden, 4 were planted in one of my raised planters, and the rest went into pots. I think I’m done with trident seedlings for now.
