I have no idea how the flower buds look like since this is the first wisteria I have!:)
I got this tree from my sensei last summer (first picture)
Some swelling buds seen on 1/26/11 (pic 2)
The rest of pictures were taken today.
I was told it is special wisteria with double flowers. Let see.

Those buds were shot this evening.
Now, I'm sure they are the flowering buds :p
So excited! Can't wait to see its flowers.
Next, I must look a nice pot for it.

I think I read something either here or in a magazine that to differentiate between flower and vegetative buds, see if the buds are fuzzy. I believe the flower buds are fuzzy while the vegetative are not.

In any event, nice wisteria - you'll have to post pics of it in bloom :D

Those are indeed flower buds, the flowers come out a few weeks befor the leaf, and the flower bud is usually larger. Enjoy the flowers!

Awesome, I really enjoy the way they smell in full bloom. We are fortunate to be able to collect them from the wild in Louisiana. It can be a real pain but the rewards can be worth it.

Sorry I didn't mention its size. It is in 5 gallon container and the trunk base diameter is about 2".

It's blooming, but not in full yet! I enjoy its color and incense. I had to cut its pot to show the trunk a bit. Now I'm looking for the suitable pot. I intend to use the round semicascade glazed pot with yellow color. What do you think?

Very nice Bonhe.

I think this wisteria will make a stunning bonsai.

I've not seen a double flowered wisteria before.

I think your idea of using a yellow pot would work well. Another color that works well with purple flowers is white.

Thanks for sharing.

Regards,
Paul

Very nice - great flowers :D

I think yellow would work nicely. I'm planning to use an older yellow chinese pot for the wisteria that I dug up last fall.
