I don't like this bark size but ... I can live with that.!

After pruning, I fed the tree with woodace, organic fertilizer and humic acid granule right away.

The Desmodium unifoliatum has the 2nd wave of blooming at this time. It has much more flowers than the 1st one.

I am surprised that the flower has chewing gum liked scent! Really nice !

This is my custom while I am working on my trees: green tea and classical music! I know some people have to drink beer or to smoke cigarette or both!

I'm in that second group. But I do also like green tea.;) Clearly, your method works better than mine!

I found a lot of roots escaping the drainage hole of the pot and diving straight into the water basin. Because it is very hot and dry at my area in the summer, this year I make an experiment with this wisteria. I transplanted it into this pot in the end of this March. I have put the pot into the water basin since May. Most of the time the water level was kept higher than the pot bottom, so the soil is always wet. The tree seems happy because it is always hydrated. Once in a while I poured the liquid fertilizer into the water basin, which I did twice so far. I hope the tree will profusely bloom next year!

Eight days ago, my teacher gave me this 30 yo shimpaku as a test. He asked me if I wanted to give it a try. Of course I would.

I showed it to my teacher. He was really like it! 😊. In the next few days, I will do more work on the lower right branch: to make it smaller to compensate with direction of the trunk line. It needs more work on the pads.

Who is guiding you? It seems you have a fairly large following of students yourself already. So who teaches the teacher?
Thank you very much for your comment. My teacher is Mr. Richard Ota. I was very lucky to be accepted under his wings in 2007. I did not know a thing about bonsai at that’s time. After more than 13 years, I learned a lot from him not only his bonsai capacity but also his personality in interaction with the trees and people. I am very proud to be his student. At this stage, I still learn something new from him every time I meet him. His knowledge of training trees for bonsai is numerous to which I can not find in the books or the internet! To me, knowledge is liked the ocean and we never finish learning .
