Mid winter down here. This is the time when structural problems really show up and we don't get to hide all our problems in the garage over winter.

Start with some smaller Chinese elms.

A couple of shohin size Seijus. I haven't done a winter trim on these yet so still a few long shoots.

Hokkaido twin trunk.

A few even smaller Seijus.

and a tiny Literati style elm grown from a root cutting.
IMGP3334.JPG

The last couple are just over shohin size, probably around 30cm (1ft) tall.

Not to mention the clickbait thread title 🤣
It got me too!

Amazing trees!

The few flaws you speak of seem to resemble nature... And appear to be customary of small-leafed Ulmus grown a long time in small containers..
I like it!!

Some small trident maples in bare winter dress

All these less than 6" tall
IMGP3335.JPG

Slightly larger but still shohin
IMGP3336.JPG

This one is around a foot tall. Around 20 years slow grown in various smaller pots so few scars.
IMGP3339.JPG

A much younger root over rock trident. Still developing the branching and ramification.
IMGP3341.JPG

The last 3 are taller trees. All around 2' tall. All 3 have been developed by fusing individual seedlings to form the multi trunks.

Great stuff! It'd be neat to update this thread in six months, fully clothed to see the flip side of the coin.

I guess our winters hardly compare with most of North America but it's still a bit cool for that down here at the moment.
Daytime max the last few days of 10C and overnight hovering just above or just below freezing with rain or drizzle for the past week. Too wet to dig the grow beds :(

Too wet for function..

Or comfort??

I hope you can “get goin’” soon.

Both really but wet soil does not drop off the roots easily which makes the whole thing much harder, not to mention messy.
Still plenty of winter left to get them out and processed and the new ones in before spring.
