I picked up this Prunus tomentosa this summer (2015) and hacked it back with some help at a class this fall.
I'm looking forward to tracking it in this thread; hopefully it will be a progression, not a regression!

Details:
Trunk width ~ 1.5"
Height from soil ~ 18"
Ratio ~ 1:12
Price ~ less than a tub of cut paste. Seriously.

I'd like to start thinking about a suitable pot for its future . . . any suggestions?

Neat tree, I'm hoping to add flowering varieties in my current collection of bonsai. Regarding the pot, as my opinion, I think it should be a matte natural color. I think the flowers are the biggest appeal of a cherry bonsai so the pot shouldn't compete with the main highlight of the tree. A shallow circular pot in an dark grey or earthy color--maybe with some texturing would great. Then again all my current trees are still in training and at least a few years from placing in a bonsai pot so I don't have much experience in this matter.

I like this for shape. Less the feet.

And that for color. And shape.

Still pot shopping. I'm thinking something round, glazed but pale, maybe cream or earthy . . . like these:

I like the Bunjeh one too....

I'd wait tho.

Till you see it with leaves and flowers.

I think it'll be easier to buy 3 then and have 1 work. Rather than 6.

This by Stickroot....
I like the minor indents on the bottom.

They kind of speak to your wound if featured.
They have that subtle movement.
And I think the dark would bang with the flowers.
It's oval...

Pretty Dope Combo IMO!

Though I do like the scar...I prefer the photo on the left over it. The two lower branches bother me where the scar is shown in the photo. Lovely bloom...I see you really falling smitten with this on your bench.
