I have extra JWB and JBP established seedlings if anyone wants them. They spent all season last year growing in the containers for exposed root. PM me if interested.

Any updates?

I sold all but one of my first bonsai trees, a JBP I got as a seedling 4-5 years ago. I didn’t have as much room for propagation as I thought 😂. I am focusing on stuff that is a little more developed right now.

The JBP is doing well, and I have been slowly exposing the roots. The clear plastic containers with plastic labels don’t seem to negatively affect root growth as some have said. This season, I wrapped some raffia around the roots to tighten the roots up a bit.

I may have been exposing the roots a little too fast on the one I have been training because the roots are a little unstable right now. I tied down two roots to tighten them up a bit, covered them back up with dirt and propped the tree up with a wood block. I am very happy to see how this one is coming along. Grow...grow...grow...

This season I picked up this exposed root JBP that Comstock started and sold to someone else in my club. It wasn’t super healthy when I first got it, so the whole season was spent getting it strong again. I will be training it just like the other one, and exposing the roots over time.
