Here's an azalea of mine that is currently blooming. I rescued it from the dump pile at a nursery I used to work at 3 or 4 years ago. I want to say the cultivar was Angel, maybe? Not certain though. In my experience, it's much more responsive to drastic techniques than the satsuki varieties I've worked with.
I considered designing individual foliage pads via a more refined branch structure, but I wanted the exposed roots to be the focus of the tree.
