2-28-23 update:

This tree is getting a facelift in 2023. Made some major cuts in the trunk two weeks ago. Repotted today. As the buds are pushing out. Hope to get nicer growth this year and I plan to push the foliage back in.

What was the reasoning for the chop? I was trying to see what was problematic with the larger branch you removed but it was a bit hard with the pics available. It looked like it may have had inverse taper in one? Just wondering because it was such a large branch that the trade off of a big scar must have been worth it.

The previous chop to remove the leader wasn’t very good. it had trouble healing over.
