They are always sold out but today.....they had 10!!!!

I had to grab one. I love bc and I would have hundreds if I could. :p

Grabbed the best of the bunch. Buds super low on the trunk and it has more taper than the pics show. Dug down looked good.

I want to let it get bigger before chopping it. But part of me I'd thinking to chop now. But what do you guys think?

LMAO!!!!!!!! I know right it's almost as firecracker-ish as "Soil Wars" on HGTV :D:D:D:D:p:p:p:p

My plan because it can't support itself in that pot was to bury it half way in the pot for support for now. As you already know they don't need the tub of water.

I've found they thrive better not submersed. Though.......I could keep it in the Bathtub :p

Try no Moss!

I put mine in a tub and it transpires 2 inches of water on a good hot day.

Pretty amazing for sure!

They got a drinking problem LOL Amazing trees!

I meant using the moss for air layers, are we on the same page lol ?

For now I put it in the ground in the pot. It's been real windy the last few days. This way it doesn't tip over.

Going in full sun all day. Today was cloudy so glad I wasn't out there in the blazing heat. Was a nice break from the norm.

Need to find a better and more stable way to keep this tree. Not my ideal spot but it'll work for now:

I got mine in a knee high tub...and tied off two sides to it. Works nice.
Deep enough to not evaporate...
Tall enough to stabilize it.
Short enough to keep light on low branches..

What I love most..is what the foliage does to water..
Makes it a fine sprinkle....
It so cool!

All the cool kids use DE for airlayers!

Nice score!
I got myself one too two months ago :)
A bit smaer then yours for only 6€ i couldnt resist buying it

Anyone knows if they are good for shohin ?

They don't lend themselves toward a smaller tree. The foliage, simply is a nightmare to keep in control for very small tree. It can be done, but pinch pinch pinch. This tree is very much a bean pole so I would chop in spring when you repot. A crazy idea would be to split the bottom of the trunk and twist it into a unique shape, let it heal and then you would have something to look at. Though you need to know what your doing to pull that off :p

That looks like a good start. I love BC as well and bought a couple a tad thinner than yours about 5 years ago. If I was you, I would chop that boy LOW. It will grow extremely well and you will have a lot of options and things to work with at that point. I tried some different things with mine but wish I could have chopped it lower than I did. Keep us updated!

They make amazing shohin but work to pull off like @Giga said. They naturally bud everywhere along the trunk all the time. So it is constant maintenance. They love to grow so the smaller you keep these the more intensive.

Here is a really nice shohin it's one of @Cadillactaste trees :)

Thank you! I want to chop it even lower than the last buds you see in the pics above.....think that is too low?
