New Black Pussy Willow

I just got a real cheap black pussy willow, and I'm a little unsure about what to do with it. There are three distinct trunks, and I was thinking about ground layer the two on the sides and making it into three trees. Another option would be to try and dig down and probably remove a lot of roots and see if there is a main trunk under the soil line. This is my first post, so let me know if I'm doing in wrong, and don't be too hard on me.
