Got a new bougie pink flower variety not sure what kind...already took few cuttings off and thinking of taking a few more...attached are pics of it one pic has my thoughts moving forward...thinking red lines will be new cuttings and yellow line will be air layer, then that will leave a single trunk probably go for a informal upright

what do you guys think?

Nice well I took a bunch of cuttings off it and on the thickest one I found this...some orange discoloration in the stem? I just bought this so if it’s root rot that sucks, since I’ve repotted I haven’t watered...I also included some pics of all my cuttings in a humidity dome with my pereskeopsis ? 3CE5FA37-EF58-4ACF-ACE8-6AE879C54307.jpegE545A4C8-D48E-4F18-935D-831F287DD2A2.jpeg6499177C-0082-41C1-8E8C-8E6BB228DAC6.jpeg

Haven’t been logged in for awhile but always jumping on to read threads, a little update on this bougie, not getting a lot of vegative growth which I find weird however it’s still throwing bracts like crazy, even got some good pics of the elusive actual flower which I find quite complex for such a little flower

Do think that is absolutely necessary? I have repotted a few and didn't defoliate. Is that a death sentence?😧

I didn't defoliate this one when i repotted it last year its its ok, perhaps a bit sluggish but alive, i completely defoliated 2 i dug up early spring and i havent seen any new growth, probably dead 😥 so im not to sure.

It depends... For me I had wayyy better recovery defoliating. I have no experience with humidity however. I repot in single digit humidity.

Spring is definitely the wrong time for bougs. Heat of summer is the trick

Mine self defoliated during the first repot and sometimes moving in and out for the seasons. I think if yours keeps the leaves it's fine.
Mine always throw their bracts and leaves down in disgust when I move them in for the winter. But I've never had that happen during a repot. Did a couple last year, and a couple just here lately, and they seem fine.

Perhaps that is the difference, the humidity here can be oppressive in the summer.

Pink pixie Bougies can be great. I’m finally starting love mine. I didn’t quite chop hard enough early on and there are a few flaws that I don’t love, but it’s one of my first successful trees so I don’t want to start over. I agree with @milehigh_7 . I repot at the start of summer when temps are hitting high 80’s, low 90’s. They always start slow then explode. I’ve also found that they constantly want to push flowers, o cut them off for the first month to month and half and allow the green leaves to have a chance to fill in, then I allow it flower, and boy does it. Also, full sun in my hot dry climate yields the best results. Just a few observations from me. I’ll post a pic later. Great trees!!
